Special Pilgrimages Ltd – ATOL 2963 has ceased trading as an ATOL holder on 4th July 2024

The company based in Southend-on-Sea traded under the names BibleLand Tours, Christian Greece, Christian Heritage Tours, Christian Spain, Christian Turkey, Special Pilgrimages, Special Pilgrimages Christian Tours, Wayfaring Pilgrimages and website(s) www.special-pilgrimages.co.uk.

The following information is for ATOL protected bookings. ATOL protected consumers are those that booked:

An ATOL protected flight inclusive Package protected by Special Pilgrimages Ltd

Your ATOL Certificate will say either ‘Package Single Contract’ or ‘Package Multi-Contract’ in the bottom right-hand corner.  Special Pilgrimages Ltd’s ATOL number 2963 will also be shown in the box to the left of this.

Bookings sold as accommodation only, Non-flight Packages or Cruise Only Bookings which do not include a flight element are not protected by the ATOL scheme.

If your ATOL protected booking was cancelled prior to Special Pilgrimages Ltd ceasing to trade as an ATOL holder and you are awaiting a refund you may submit a claim to ATOL.

When completing the ATOL claim form, select the claim type as “Outstanding refund”.

Choosing an incorrect claim type may result in delays in processing your claim.

You will need your original booking documents and evidence of payments to assist you in completing the claim form.

You do not need to submit these documents until we request these from you at a later stage.

When completing the ATOL claim form:

  • Use your most recent ATOL Certificate Number (Booking Reference), found on the bottom left corner of the ATOL Certificate issued to you by the failed ATOL holder. Input only the first 5 digits of your Booking Reference (e.g. 54321).
  • Use your original date of booking and your most recent departure date.
  • Enter 00:00 if you do not know your flight times.
  • Complete “Your Details” section and tick if you are the lead passenger prior to using the lookup address function.
  • Payment transaction dates cannot precede the date of booking. Enter the same booking date as the initial payment date otherwise you will be unable to proceed if your initial payment was made prior to the booking date.
  • List all the payments you made for your ATOL protected booking and use the deduction section to deduct the amounts you are not claiming.

When completing the ATOL claim form, select the claim type for Option 1 as “Forward booking and claiming a full refund”.

Time limit for making a claim to ATOL is by 03 July 2025.

The UK CAA has the power to prosecute offences related to its statutory functions. Person(s) who make fraudulent ATOL claims, following the failure of an ATOL holder, may be prosecuted by the UK CAA for offences under section 1 of the Fraud Act 2006. The maximum sentence for this offence is 10 years’ imprisonment.
